Book Review: Haynes Motorcaravanning Handbook (2nd Edition 2012)

Haynes Motorcaravanning Handbook 2nd edition

Back in December 2010, I reviewed the first edition of Motorcaravanning Handbook, a Haynes guide to buying and owning a motorhome, written by motorhome enthusiast and expert John Wickersham. You can read my original review here.

I thought that it was a very useful and comprehensive book but I recently received a copy of the new 2nd edition, which was published earlier this year (2012).

Something old, something new

Having browsed through the new edition alongside the original, the vast majority appears unchanged. The only differences are that a few vehicle and equipment photos have been updated to show more recent examples. Most, if not all, of the text is the same; since it all remains accurate and contemporary, there is no reason to have changed it.

One thing that has changed is the price — the RRP has risen from £12.99 to £14.99. However, Motorcaravanning Handbook can be purchased for £10.49 on Amazon at the time of writing, so the RRP is pretty irrelevant, as it usually is these days!

Summary

Pros: If you don’t yet own a copy and are new to motorhoming, then buy one (before you buy a motorhome).

Cons: If you already have a copy, then there is no reason to buy a copy of the 2nd edition — it’s virtually the same.
